Natural Resource and Restoration Assessment – Kittery Point, Maine

Gavinlocation

Truslow Resource Consulting LLC is working with the Kittery Land Trust (KLT) to evaluate natural resources on a property in Kittery Point that is part of the Brave Boat Harbor focus area and is adjacent to the extensive Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge.  The information is being used to support an application for funding by the Maine Natural Resource Conservation Program (MNRCP).  The area includes a major tributary to the Brave Boat Harbor Salt Marsh which is largely tidal and dominated by salt marsh and pool habitat.  A road and bridge crossing that divides the parcel has experienced erosion and stormwater discharge that negatively influences the marsh.  Truslow RC and KLT are working with the Town of Kittery to develop a plan that will reduce stormwater impacts and incorporate bioretention areas during scheduled road improvement to enhance the value of the salt marsh.
