Long Island Sound Study (LISS) Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP)

LISS mapTruslow Resource Consulting LLC, as a member of WaterVision LLC, a New England water resource professional’s consortium, was project manager on the contract to support to the Long Island Sound Study (LISS) in the update their original CCMP, developed in 1994. Support has included: (1) creating a communication plan to ensure effective and efficient communication between the core team and the many primary/secondary partners involved in the update, (2) reviewing the original 1994 CCMP and subsequent action plans and agendas, as well as numerous other management and action plans developed for other similar water resources such as the Chesapeake Bay, (3) assisting in the development and tracking of goals, outcomes, objectives, strategies and actions for the updated CCMP, (4) facilitating public scoping meetings in both New York and Connecticut, (5) using social media to inform the public and special interest groups about the update process and seek input, and (6) developing the structure of the updated CCMP for use in Phase II. Phase I of the project was complete late 2013.

Support in Phase II included development of the CCMP document in collaboration with LISS and stakeholders, planning and supporting the public comment period and evaluating and developing innovative online accessibility of the document. The final version of the updated LISS CCMP is expected to be released in 2015.
