Natural Resource Mapping & Land Protection Prioritization

As director of the Seacoast Land Trust, Ms. Truslow worked with land trust committees, towns and stakeholders to prioritize lands for focused protection efforts. She worked closely with Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests (SPNHF) to develop prioritization strategies, then worked with stakeholders to rank resource attributes for GIS modeling by SPNHF.

A series of maps were developed for each project and a report describing the process and the ranking criteria were prepared.  Project results were used to guide landowner contact and follow up.

A series of outreach presentations and meeting were also conducted after each mapping project.  The mapping generated interest with landowners and with supporters of land protection in the Seacoast.

The maps were also valuable for receiving grant funding and private donations for land conservation projects.  A PDF of the Greenland plan can be viewed at NHEP, University of New Hampshire.
